Unilever buys back preference shares from a.s.r.

Summary

Unilever and a.s.r. have agreed that Unilever will buy back the 6% cumulative preference shares in Unilever N.V. held by a.s.r., by means of a public offer for approximately € 142 million. These shares represent approximately 5.5% voting rights of Unilever N.V.

The transaction takes place at the request of Unilever. Settlement of the transaction is expected in Q4 of 2017. The transaction has a positive impact of approximately € 118 million on the a.s.r. IFRS net result. The proceeds of the transaction are not part of the a.s.r. operating result. The proceeds will be reinvested by a.s.r.

a.s.r. also holds an equity interest of less than 1% in Unilever N.V. through ordinary shares. These ordinary shares are not part of this transaction.
