Tour de France-themed Miffy presented to Wilhelmina Children's Hospital

Today, April 21th, a festive ceremony will be held to present the official Tour de France-themed Miffy to 220 sick children who are being treated at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital. The Utrecht-based hospital has been decked out in Tour de France colours for the day to mark the occasion. It was an a.s.r. employee who took the initiative for this project.

The Tour de France-themed Miffy has been created especially for the Grand Départ in Utrecht, which will take place between 1 and 5 July 2015. The proceeds from the sale of this Miffy will go to the Youth Sport Fund and Friends of Wilhelmina Children's Hospital. The project will aid in the development of the hospital's Children's Sport Centre, offering children from low-income families the opportunity to play sports, which would otherwise have been unattainable for them.

Involvement on the part of a.s.r.
In close cooperation with the people organizing Le Tour Utrecht, a.s.r. will invite up to six children who are being treated at the hospital to spend a day as a professional cyclist between 1 and 5 July. To commemorate the fact that the Tour de France is departing from Utrecht this year and have the other children at the hospital share in the festivities too, a.s.r. has decided to present them all with the Tour de France-themed Miffy during its official presentation.

An a.s.r. colleague: “My daughter was born at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital in 2012; three months and six operations later, she was finally released. During her stint in the hospital, I saw so many sick children that I felt I should do something fun for them. When I learned last year that the Tour de France would be coming to Utrecht, I jumped at the occasion to organize a project for the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital.”
