Margot Scheltema to resign as Supervisory Board member of a.s.r.

Summary

Margot Scheltema will resign from the Supervisory Board of a.s.r. on 1 September 2015. She will be appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) on that same date.

Because of Margot Scheltema's appointment to the Supervisory Board of regulator DNB on 1 September 2015, she will step down from the a.s.r. Supervisory Board on that same date. Given DNB's supervisory function, the two roles are incompatible. Margot Scheltema has served on the Supervisory Board of a.s.r. since early 2009; she is a member of the Supervisory Board's Audit & Risk Committee.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Kick van der Pol: ´Margot, who joined the Supervisory Board very soon after the nationalization of a.s.r., has contributed immensely to the development of the organization over the past six years. We owe her a debt of gratitude for her efforts. Although we do of course understand her decision to join the Supervisory Board of DNB, we are sorry to see her go.´

Margot Scheltema: ´I am honoured to have been appointed to the Supervisory Board of DNB and I am keen to take up this new challenge. I look back at a productive and enjoyable period on the Supervisory Board of a.s.r. It was a period in which the organization saw dynamic development, to the point where it is now ready for a return to private hands. I am pleased that I have been able to do my part in making this happen.´

a.s.r. will initiate the process of finding a successor to Margot Scheltema as soon as possible.
