Corins strengthens its position on the co-insurance market
Corins, the Amsterdam underwriting agency that has been a full subsidiary of a.s.r. since 2016, will considerably strengthen its position on the co-insurance market in the near future. After the integration of the co-insurance activities of Generali Nederland, the turnover and the number of employees will double. In order to emphasise Corins’ connectedness with a.s.r., the text ‘a brand of a.s.r.’ has been added to Corins’ logo.
Corins was founded in 2003 and is active on the co-insurance market, on which complex and substantial risks are borne by several insurers. Corins effects fire, transport and liability insurance policies through approx. 65 insurance brokers. Corins has powers from national and international insurers to operate independently on the co-insurance market.
Following the acquisition of Corins in 2016, a.s.r. transferred its own underwriting portfolio to Corins with the ambition of realising a profitable growth in the corporate market. With the acquisition of Generali Nederland, a.s.r. seeks to further put into effect this ambition. By bundling Generali’s underwriting portfolio and expertise, the position on this market is strengthened further. Corins’ annual turnover increased to well over € 60 million and the underwriting team consists of 25 people.
A brand of a.s.r.
With the addition 'a brand of a.s.r.' Corins’ positioning, as a holding of a.s.r., will become stronger in the co-insurance market and make for increased name recognition among advisers. Corins will continue to be an independently operating entity.
Paula Tewes, Director of Corins: ‘As an independent underwriting insurer, Corins will add long-term value. It fits in with a.s.r.’s ambition to grow in the corporate market. With Corins, we will make significant steps under the flag of a.s.r. to take up a more leading position in the middle segment of the co-insurance market.’
