ASR to be first insurance company to provide an insurance medical specialist education programme

Summary

ASR is to be the first insurance company in the Netherlands to train doctors in becoming insurance medical specialists. ASR’s Medical Service has been recognised by the Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG) as a medical specialist education programme.

With this postgraduate insurance medical specialist education programme, ASR responds to the growing need for practical schooling for insurance medical specialists. These doctors specialise in assessing medical issues in the area of occupational disability, bodily injury, risk assessment on underwriting and accidents. Until recently insurance medical specialist education programmes were only carried out by the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV).

Frank Romijn, Healthcare and Income Director at ASR: ‘I am proud of the fact that due to the efforts of our Medical Service we succeeded in acquiring this special recognition. We view it as a confirmation of our expertise and the quality of our services. We are very happy with this recognition.’

The insurance medical specialist education programme at ASR comprises a theoretical and a practical component and takes four years. Two doctors are currently enrolled in this programme, and each year two new doctors will be enrolled.
